The Sacred Sanctuary of Neapolitan Pizza in Tokyo

L'INSIEME is about five minutes from JR Kameido Station on Meiji dori, in a part of town where you do not expect one of Tokyo’s better pizza rooms to be waiting. The street is quiet, mostly residential, and the exterior keeps a low profile.

Inside, the energy changes. Italian football shirts hang on the walls beside competition trophies, and a large custom wood fired oven anchors the room. It is the first thing your eyes go to, and usually where they stay.

Owner chef Matsumaru trained at Napule in Minami Aoyama before opening here. That background matters, but more useful is what happens in service. Dough is stretched, topped, and fired quickly at high heat, with the kind of rhythm that comes from repetition rather than performance.

The crust tells you most of what you need to know. The outer edge colors and crisps, while the inside stays light and moist. Even after the pizza cools slightly, it keeps its structure instead of collapsing into heaviness. The dough is seasoned properly, so the rim is worth eating to the end.

The house pizza, also called L'INSIEME, is the right place to start. Tomato sauce, smoked mozzarella, fresh arugula, and shaved Parmigiano Reggiano. The smoke from the cheese, the bitterness of the greens, and the salty depth of the Parmigiano stay in balance across the whole pie.

There is more here than pizza. A charcoal grill runs beside the oven, and the pork belly confit is a regular order for good reason. It is rich without becoming heavy and pairs easily with red wine. If you still have room, finish with the tiramisu.

The menu includes more than thirty pizzas, so repeat visits make sense. But even on a first meal, it becomes clear why people make the trip to Kameido for this place.

Reservations are a good idea, especially on busy evenings. We are happy to help if needed.

L'INSIEME: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How far in advance should I book?
Weekend slots and peak dinner hours usually fill up 1 to 2 weeks in advance. For larger groups or specific timing, we recommend booking as early as possible.

What are your opening hours on Mondays?
L'INSIEME has a specific schedule for Mondays. We are open only on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month. We are closed on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Monday. Since this schedule can be tricky, we highly recommend checking the calendar via TableEX before planning your visit.

Are children welcome?
Absolutely. The atmosphere is casual and family-friendly. However, if you require space for a stroller or specific seating for young children, please let us know via TableEX so we can ensure a smooth arrival.

Do they serve pasta?
L'INSIEME takes immense pride in being a specialized Pizzeria. As such, we do not serve pasta. Instead, we encourage you to explore our extensive menu of charcoal-grilled meats and appetizers that complement the wood-fired pizza.
