A refined counterpoint to Shibuya’s noise.

Just a minute from Shibuya Station, THE MUSIC BAR -CAVE SHIBUYA- is one of Tokyo’s most refined destinations for those who take both music and drinks seriously.

Hidden underground, the space opens into a warm, wood-toned interior softly lit by indirect lighting. Over 3,000 vinyl records line the shelves, each one carefully selected by in-house curators and played through a top-tier sound system featuring McIntosh amplifiers and vintage speakers. The sound isn’t about sheer volume—it’s about depth, warmth, and texture, creating an atmosphere that feels effortlessly immersive.

The drink list is equally inventive. CAVE pioneered Japan’s first tap cocktails, served directly from the barrel like draft beer—an eco-conscious, waste-free system that’s as sustainable as it is stylish. Signatures include the Hip-Hop Highball, French Kiwi Juice, and A.Y.B. Sour—each one inspired by music and crafted with precision. Beyond these, the bartenders mix original creations that balance creativity with serious mixology technique.

Food is no afterthought. The bistro menu sources fresh produce directly from KURKKU FIELDS in Kisarazu, highlighting seasonal ingredients across dishes that complement both the cocktails and the music. Even the bar snacks—like housemade jerky or crisp fries—are crafted with care and intention.

On weekends, the crowd is an international mix: about half foreign guests, many regulars, and plenty of women who come solo or in small groups. The soundtrack flows from 60s and 70s soul to fusion, city pop, and modern hip-hop, curated to suit the night’s rhythm. Whether you sit at the counter to chat with the bartenders or settle into the deep sofas facing the record wall, the experience feels both intimate and elevated.

In a city overflowing with nightlife, CAVE redefines what a “music bar” can be—sophisticated, health-conscious, and utterly tuned in.
A place where sound, flavor, and mood blend seamlessly into one perfect groove.
