Since 2017, the restaurant has built a steady reputation among local pizza fans without chasing the kind of attention larger shops often seek.


The dough is the main reason people come back. Solono uses a custom blend of Italian flours, and the team adjusts fermentation and hydration according to the day’s humidity. In the oven, the crust develops clear char and a crisp outer edge while the center stays soft and elastic. It is light enough that finishing a whole pie feels realistic, but strong enough to carry richer toppings.


A few dishes help set the restaurant apart from more standard pizzerias. The fruit and cheese starters are among the smartest orders. Combinations such as blood orange with house made ricotta or buffalo mozzarella with strawberries are served at room temperature rather than cold. That small decision changes the result. The fruit tastes sweeter, aromas open up, and the cheese keeps a softer texture.


The pizza list covers both tomato based and bianca styles with plenty of range. Bismark remains a popular choice, with egg yolk broken into the sauce at the table. For something more specific to the house, the fig, smoked pancetta, and gorgonzola pizza works better than it sounds. Sweetness from the fruit balances the sharper edge of the cheese. As one of Kyoto’s high-demand pizzerias, Solono is frequently fully booked from the moment it opens at 18:00. While lucky walk-ins occasionally find a seat, we strongly recommend securing a reservation several weeks in advance. Use TableEX to send your request for either the lively counter or the more secluded second-floor tables.

Q: Are children welcome?
Absolutely. We welcome families. When submitting your request, please ensure you select the correct number of children. If there are no children, select "None." For one child, select "1 child," and for two or more, select "2 children..." Our concierge will confirm the availability of high chairs with the restaurant upon your request.

Q: Can I take away leftover pizza?
Yes. While we prioritize the in-shop experience, any pizza you cannot finish can be boxed for takeaway (additional box fee applies). This ensures you can enjoy the "Solono Taste" even after you leave.
